Best reasons to visit Adelaide

Festivals galore

While Sydney and Melbourne compete for your attention, Adelaide has managed to transform into the perfect host city. It’s accumulated some of the most popular arts and sporting events including the Adelaide Fringe Festival, cultural tour de force, WOMADelaide, etc. For food fanatics, there’s nothing better than the Hills Crush Festival which celebrates wine, food, and fashion. The streets also come alive each year with Santos Tour Down Under which is the first stop of the UCI World Tour for cyclists.

many reasons to visit adelaide

Urban makeover

The Adelaide Oval was recently completed and links the Oval with central Adelaide and the beautiful parklands all around. For calm in the inner-city, find a parklet. These are part gardens and part benches, which are the perfect opportunity for cafe patrons to relax and enjoy themselves in the middle of the urban jungle. With a number of eating precincts, the food scene in Adelaide is a wonderful mix.

Boutique shopping

The local shopping haunts like Unley and Norwood have been very popular, but there are new boutique strips in off the radar suburbs which can prove to be quite amazing if you can take out the time to wander around a bit. There’s Croydon, where you can find a lot of recycled furniture, sci-fi ephemera, ventriloquist dummies, and the delicious Red Door Bakery.

Wine country

The Adelaide Hills are hardly twenty minutes away from the city. Here you will be greeted by a number of dairy farms, market gardens, vineyards, and orchards. You could stop for some wine tastings and enjoy the buttery smoothness of a M3 Chardonnay in the afternoon at Shaw & Smith. You can then hop across the road to try out Nepenthe’s Sauvignon Blanc and end the sampling journey with a seasonal antipasto platter at Bird in Hand’s.

Beautiful beaches

The abundance and beauty of Adelaide’s beaches are among the best-kept secrets in Australia. The neighboring beaches of Grange and Henley are perfect examples of this. You can spend a nice, relaxing day on the beach and then go have some refreshing Vale Ale followed by some salt and pepper squid while enjoying the amazing sunset. Just be careful of rips since Adelaide beaches are known to have some notorious ones. Paying attention to the lifeguards and staying between the flags is very important for beach-goers if they want to have a good time without any incidents. Sure are there many more reasons, but these are our favourite says a popular photographer in Adelaide, living and breathing Adelaide beauty.
