It is no secret that plants have become far more important in today’s world. While most people’s interiors didn’t have any greenery whatsoever at one point, nowadays, house plants are used to fill up multiple bare areas in a home. The fact is, even purchasing a few houseplants can go a long way in breathing new life into any room of your home. You too may want to get some house plants for your home but some of them can be a little work to maintain. And there’s no point in keeping dead plants at home. So what do you do if you aren’t too good at taking care of your plants? You need to get the right plants. Here are a few things which you should consider while determining which plants to get for your home:
The time you want to spend on the task
If you don’t spend a whole lot of time at home, choose plants that will not require watering more than once every few weeks. Rubber or jade plants, golden pathos, mini-geraniums or philodendrons are your best choice here.
Consider the Lighting you need
Where you decide to place your plants is very important too. Determine how much light your rooms provide and then get plants which will thrive in such rooms. You should speak with your local nursery to find the right plants for each of your rooms.
Evaluate the space you have
If you have limited space, you should try and look for plants that can survive in smaller pots such as African violets, Chinese evergreens, lantanas and ageratums.
Choosing the plant
If the city you live in is very congested, consider getting plants which can work on removing pollutants form the air in your home. Some of the best choices here include English ivy, spider plants, aloe vera and peace lilies. Humidity is a very b g consideration for you. If you are living in a very dry climate, you should avoid getting houseplants which require high levels of moisture unless you are ready to put them inside a room which is humid for most of the time like the bathroom. Tropical plants such as caladiums, lantanas, pink sunburst cannas, etc. require humidity. Plants like cacti and succulents do not. The best way for you to ensure your plants are going to last longer is to get hardy plants. Plants like ivy, dragon trees, wave petunias, ZZ palms, crotons, etc. are the toughest around. If you can kill these too, perhaps plants aren’t the right choice for you.
